Day 1 PORTLAND, OREGON
Transfer from Portland International Airport (PDX) to the Hilton is included. Embarkation begins at the Hilton Embassy Suites Portland Airport hotel lobby with sign-in between 11:00 am and 2:30 pm. Transfer by deluxe motor coach is a 3:00 pm. The first dining experience is supper. Early diners begin at 5:30 and late diners at 6:45. Country Club Casual dress is always appropriate at all meals. No formal attire is required.
Day 2 THE DALLES, HOOD RIVER, COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE
Enter the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area and experience nature's cathedral. Multnomah Falls, Beacon Rock, Rooster Rock, Crown Point, The Bridge of the Gods, Maryhill Museum, Stonehenge (replica) and the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center Museum--each has a story to tell. Transit Bonneville, The Dalles and John Day locks-and-dams to complete a very full day.
Day 3 PENDLETON, UMATILLA LANDING, COLUMBIA & SNAKE RIVER CRUISING
Highlights include a tour of the Pendleton Underground, Pendleton Woolen Mills and the Tamastslikt Cultural Center of the Cayuse, Umatilla and Walla Walla Tribes. Transit McNary, Ice Harbor, Lower Monumental, Little Goose and Lower Granite locks-and-dams.
Day 4 CLARKSTON, LEWISTON, HELL'S CANYON
Panoramic vistas soothe mind and body as you follow the majestic Snake River upstream into North America's deepest canyon. Mountains tower 8,000 vertical feet on both the Idaho and Oregon sides of the river. Enjoy a sit-down, ranch style lunch with checkered table cloths at an isolated wilderness ranch. View ancient Indian petroglyphs up close. View the exact location where Chief Joseph forded the river on his Trail of Tears. Begin your journey back downstream.
Day 5 COLUMBIA RIVER CRUISING
Cruise the Columbia River with a full day devoted to sightseeing from the riverboat. Relax. Get to know your family better. Enjoy the promenade deck with it's 360 degree views or just read a book in one of the lounges from the ship's library.
Day 6 RAINIER, LONGVIEW, MOUNT SAINT HELENS
Transit Bonneville lock-and-dam. Cruise downstream through the northern Willamette valley with verdant views of evergreen forests, fields and natural wildlife areas. Shore tour from Longview or Rainier, Washington by deluxe motor coach to Mount Saint Helens Visitor Center where exhibits and films bring the 1980 eruption to life again. Weather permitting, view the inside of the crater from a safe distance at a nearby overlook.
Day 7 ASTORIA, LOWER COLUMBIA RIVER CRUISING
Dock in Victorian Astoria with views of the Pacific Ocean from Coxcomb Hill. Shore tour to Fort Clatsop where the Corps of Discovery spent the winter of 1805-6. Tour the world famous Columbia River Maritime Museum. All aboard in the evening for the Captain's Gala Farewell Dinner.
Day 8 PORTLAND, OREGON
After a full sit-down breakfast, disembarkation begins at 8:00 am with included transfers back to the airport in time for flights outbound at noon. We trust you will journey home with a life time of enriching memories.
