Since 1995 Adventure Cruises has provided a centralized booking service for the small ship cruises on the Columbia River which last 7 nights and cover 1,000 river miles in the wake of Lewis and Clark. Joy and Larry have sailed aboard the paddle wheeler Queen of the West, stern wheeler Empress of the North, river boat Columbia Queen, yacht ships Spirit of Discovery, Spirit of '98, Sea Bird and Sea Lion. Majestic America Line, Cruise West and Lindblad Expeditions own the cruise ships. Adventure Cruises books the passengers.

An Adventure Cruise includes booking a stateroom aboard a paddle wheeler, river boat, river barge, stern wheeler or yacht ship with 75 - 200 passengers or the all-suites yacht ship Spirit of Oceanus. All-inclusive rates would include all meals, beverages, historian, naturalist, shore tours, taxes, port charges and fuel surcharges. Gratuities may be extra. A variety of guided activities includes birding, nature walks, photography, swimming, snorkeling, diving, kayaking, wildlife viewing and historical site tours. The atmosphere is casual, the service personal and the viewing up-close.
